New Readership

The change in idea means a change in readership. We have decided that we still want to maintain a hip-hop/R&B magazine and will use artists currently in the industry on the front cover and contents page as a way of making sure our magazine is able to compete with big magazines like Vibe and XXL.

What Socio-economic group do they fit into?

We will still be aiming our magazine at those who are middle class and working class, as the magazine will be in a competitive price bracket compared with other magazines. My youthful audience will be in school or would have just left, meaning they will be focusing on purchasing food and creating a good standard of living, meaning our magazine will be relatively cheap. However, the price is at an average price, in which we will still be able to create a revenue to pay for publishing and have the ability to interview high-standing artists. It will also be a monthly magazine, meaning customers will be given the ability to subscribe so they can get the magazine delivered to their home every month. As we researched the price of the rolling stone magazine, we have decided to put our magazine at a little less so that we can have a larger readership.

Price per magazine: £4.75
Price per year: £57.00

What brands will they like?

Our audience will be one that is from both a female and male gender and are youthful, meaning they will be shopping in some of the mainstream high street shops. Topman, Topshop, Zara, H&M are all shops which my audience will choose to purchase goods from. They are reasonably cheap and very fashionable, which is what my audience will be trying to achieve. Food brands will include cheap and quick food, as they may also be in education or living on a budget. Mcdonald's and KFC are quick and easy to eat meals, while food may be brought from shops like Tesco and Asda due to their low prices.

Who are you appealing to?

I will be appealing to a male and female audience, who will be from the age of 16 to 30. This is a young audience who will be up-to-date with new music and fashion due to the greater use of technology and internet putting them in a position closer to their favourite artists and gossip websites. They will be educated and have knowledge of US and UK artists, but mostly UK due to the management (us) being located in the UK.

What music will you be using?

As our original idea will be to use hip-hop/R&B, we will continue this as it us both our favourite genre of music. It also has a large amount of listeners and is well known across the UK and the world. We will however be having a female on the front cover so that we can stand out from the crowd, which is further emphasised by a black rapper in a suit on our contents page, who are stereotypically seen to be wearing a tracksuit or flashy clothes that does not include suits.
