The magazine above is effective as the different colours make the magazine standout on the shelf of a shop. It also explodes over the masthead of the magazine, which is seen in numerous magazines to make the artist stand out more. The font of the masthead however doesn't particularly fit the genre of the magazine, which we will consider when creating our final product. The words above the masthead reveal what is to be featured in the magazine, which we feel is good as it gives people looking to read the magazine something to look for, and if what is in our magazine appeals to them they will purchase it.
The image above of the female artist is large, in which the arms go off the page and the head covers the majority of the masthead. As she is a female, making her seem powerful is not normally seen within magazines, and this magazine makes the female seem important effectively. The red sticker however is something that we may not include, as I feel it looks ineffective in it's advertisement. Even though it stands out, I feel that it is out of place and ruins the image. The masthead's font is quite modern, which we will try to include in our piece as we are aiming it at a young, urban audience.
The suit worn by the British rapper, Giggs, contrasts with what he is normally seen to be wearing. The Guardian is a broadsheet newspaper, which is seen to be read by intellectuals across the UK. Even though this suit is to fit with that audience, I believe that we could transfer this into our magazine so that is stands out and gives our magazine another USP.
